Sometimes the most important part of art isn’t the moment it’s “finished,” but everything that happens before it—the hesitations, the tests, the tension, the joy, the dust on your hands, and that quiet “just a little more.” That’s where Traceslives: a video chapter within the documentary line Working Title—our way of capturing inspiration in motion.
Back in 2023, we began developing video productions as a natural continuation of our work on our own projects and events. Capturing Creativity’s YouTube channel already brings together music videos from Microfest, footage from live performances, and other video stories documenting the independent scene.
Traces is a project by the visual trio Rosina Pencheva, Dobrin Kashavelov, and Mikael Stefanov: Rosina—director, Dobrin—camera 1, Mikael—camera 2. We work as a mobile system: one “eye” follows the bigger picture, another captures the nuances, and the third keeps the rhythm. Together we’re looking for a visual language that preserves the authenticity of the process and its energy—honestly, and up close.

We started filming in the autumn of 2024, when we stood beside artist Nevena Ekimova in Gabrovo during the days around the completion of her art installation Infundibulum. A year later, in autumn 2025, we turned the camera toward muralist Krom Bagelsky and his Metamorphosis. Both stories unfolded in the context of Microfest—our annual event where art meets long-forgotten urban sites, and the city begins to speak in a new language.
Now we’re writing a new chapter. In the months ahead, we’ll continue to follow Nevena’s and Krom’s creative work—not only in the places we’ve already been, but wherever their practice takes them.
What will we leave behind?
A few carefully collected traces—from studios, streets, and stages:
• Two artist portraits: Nevena Ekimova and Krom Bagelsky—new encounters and additional shoots as this year’s projects are born and evolve.
• Two films about the neighbourhood: Let’s Make the Cats Dance and Microfest: Three for Happiness—stories of how Shesti Uchastak (Gabrovo’s oldest neighbourhood) is transformed through culture, friendship, and small-big gestures.
• Three live music moments: video sessions with Ilko Birov, Voice & Accordion (Desy Andonova and Ilko Gradev), and Mono and the Stereos—music that leaves an imprint on space.
We’ll publish all videos online and present them at a premiere screening planned for this autumn. We’ll also share periodic behind-the-scenes fragments and process updates. Traces show the way—we simply follow them.
